HANDS UP DON'T SHOOT: Exploring what it means to be black in America.

Sourced from: http://www.wintertangerine.com

"Hands Up Don't Shoot will explore what it means to be black in America.

The concept for the feature stemmed from outrage over unchecked police brutality in America and institutional racism that permeates every aspect of our society. These strains of systemic racism allow for the constant murder of black citizens, and defy any claim that this country is “post-racial”.

The injustice of Michael Brown's death, along with the deaths of hundreds of other black children who were killed for the color of their skin, has been tragically normalized in our society. However, the riots and protests taking place all over the world, reflect a demand for change. Hands Up Don’t Shoot will exclusively feature African-Americans creating art out of this injustice.

Hands Up Don't Shoot will be released on February 5, 2015, in honor of Trayvon Martin's birthday."
