AAPV share the work of Shameeka Dream

We at AAPV wanted to take a moment and share this photo by Jack Gruber depicting Shameeka Dream.

(@shameekadream on IG & www.shameekadream.com ) δΈ€ a poet and healing artist, conducting a cleansing with sage in front of a police line in ‪#‎Baltimore‬.

We wanted to celebrate this moment of woman-led resistance. When white supremacy and the media falls on its own face and fails to honor the complexity of organized protest, we wanted to take a moment to to honor the Black women who are leading the movement. How what they named ‪#‎BaltimoreRiots‬ is actually borne from immense love, resilience, grief, healing and organized community. Take a moment today to extend your support, be it in body, in writing, or in ‪#‎art‬, to the Black communities in Baltimore and their resilience, collective breathing, and undefeatable spirits.

Shameeka will be creating an interactive healing experience Friday, 3 hours before the Baltimore Protests. Read this article by Shameeka Dream recounting her experience at the Baltimore protests: http://shameekadream.com/2015/04/30/on-creating-sacred-space-and-being-a-presence-in-my-own-words/

This photo doesn't have a high res download but visit www.artistsagainstpoliceviolence.com for many art resources for use in the streets.
